We are continuing with Fractions. Now that we understand what a fraction is, we will work to compare them and identify equivalent fractions.
Fractions have been a lot fun! We have worked hard on understanding fractions, how to represent them, and we will be focusing on word problems involving fractions. Our Topic 12 test will be on Monday, February 19th.
We are continuing to work on Fractions. We are working on understanding the fraction shown in a picture, as well as drawing a picture to represent the fraction given. We will also relate Fractions to measurement and looking at Fractions on a number line.
It's time for FRACTIONS! Students will begin their unit on fractions this week and we will look partitioning shapes into sections and relating that to fractions (parts) and a whole.
We will be finishing up our Data unit. The Topic 7 assessment is scheduled for Thursday the 18th.
The class will be working on collecting data and representing that data. We will be polling the class on different questions and creating graphs to show the results.
Students will take their Area retest on Wednesday the 20th. We will then begin our unit on Data.
Students have had a blast using area to create their dream homes. We need to spend a little but more time on Area, specifically area of irregular shapes and finding the area of a shape, but excluding a portion of that shape. For example: Painting a wall that has a window in it. How much area will get painted?
Students have been really enjoying finding the area of shapes. We will be working on creating a "model home" and finding the area of different rooms in the home, as well as the entire home. Our Area assessment will be on Wednesday, 12-6. We will then make our way into Representing and Interpreting Data!
