We are finishing up learning about fossils and we will be moving into Weather!
We will be looking closely at how ecosystems can change and the effects this has on plants and animals. We will then start looking at the importance of fossils and what we can learn from them.
We are continuing to look at living things and we will be looking closely at Ecosystems and the animals that live in them.
We had some ADORABLE Aliens created this week! Now we will be moving into the life cycles of living things. I will bring in meal worms and students will observe them daily to document the changes they notice and determine their life cycle.
We will be looking at inherited traits and learned behaviors. Students will be looking at genes and the Punnett Square. After discussion and practice, students will have to determine Punnett Squares for different traits for an alien. They will then draw what their alien looks like and list the inherited traits and which parent passed that trait on.
We are moving into our living things unit. We will have a fun hands on activity to help us understand our backbone a bit more. We will be discussing how we classify animals.
Students will take their Chapter 3: Plants assessment on Tuesday the 19th. We will then move into Chapter 4: Living Things
What a week of hands on activities! Planting seeds to monitor their growth, cutting open a seed and observing it's insides, and acting like bees pollinating flowers! We will be focusing on the life cycle of plants and continuing to observe and document the growth of our flowers. THANK YOU to everyone who was able to send in the needed supplies.
Students have enjoyed diving deeper into plants and looking at how they make food and how all their parts work together. We will focus on how plants use flowers and cones to reproduce. For this, I have a really fun activity planned, but I need some help to pull it off. I need a few materials (not many) and I have created a signup genius if anyone is able to help us out. Thank you!
